[Note] [From Family Tree, James Wesley Rawles]
Was 14 years old when his family made the overland immigrant journey to California.

He and Ann Elizabeth left California in the 1870s for the Steen's Mountain region of Oregon. They homesteaded on the east side of Steen's Mountain, between the Mann Lake and Juniper ranches. The stone house they built is still partly standing and the area is known as Stone house Canyon.

Tax records in 1888 indicate that Thomas J. Vestal owned a lot in Boonville, Calif. bordered on East by County road, and on South, West and North by that of J.R. Crow. Was this James Rankin Crow's property, or that of someone with a similar name?
