Obituary: Homer B. Metzler, 89, of the Mennonite Home, formerly of Manheim, died Sunday afternoon at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Grace Hershey Metzler. They celebrated their 68th anniversary on March 9.
Born in Penn Township, he was a son of the late Herman and Amanda Brubaker Metzler.
He worked his farm in Penn Township until 1963, when he became a landscaper for Stauffer's of Kissel Hill, retiring at age 75.
A member of Erb's Mennonite Church, Lititz, he served as secretary for both the Sunday school and the cemetery board.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Jean, wife of Abram M. Hoover of Lebanon, and Ruth C., wife of Wilmer R. Nissley of Mount Joy; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John B. Metzler of Denver, Elam B. Metzler of Milmont and Howard B.
Metzler of Mifflintown; and a sister, Lizzie Brubaker of Brethren Village
